Delete old user Profiles Group Policy

We have a group policy object setup to delete old user profiles from Windows 7 SP1 machines. It uses the Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on system restart policy to remove the profiles. Based upon gpresult, the GPO is being applied to the computers. The problem appears to be that a file is being modified, which is preventing the user profile from being deleted, despite the fact that the user has not logged in. The NTUSER.dat.log1 file seems to have been recently modified.

I have seen several references to the hotfix 983544, but we have SP1, which includes this hotfix. Also, our antivirus is set to on-demand scans only, no scheduled scans which would modify this file.

Here are my questions:

1) Any ideas what could be modifying the NTUSER.dat.log1 file?

2) How can I get the GPO to remove the old profiles? (We don’t want to use a script.)

Thanks
