Grant a member the right to logon locally

I am studying for the 70-640 exam with the Microsoft training kit. I am using Virtual Box to create my servers. for some reason i cannot logon as a normal user but only as administrator. i have already granted rights to login locally, in the group policy management/local policy but when i try to login it says the logon method is not allowed in this computer. Can anyone help me?
