We did a migration off of SBS 2008 to Server 2016 (standalone DC) for a small office of less then ten users. During a recent remote session into a user’s computer for another issue I noticed that their Desktop and Documents folders are still being redirected
towards the old SBS server that has been demoted off the domain.
I next ran a GPRESULT /R to see if any folder redirection policies were still applied but there are none. It does show it’s pulling the GPO from the new server. I also ran a RSOP on that computer but none of the applied policies are for folder redirection.
I see the old legacy “Small Business Server Folder Redirection Policy” on the server under Group Policy Objects but it’s not linked to any OU’s. Its removal setting is set to restore contents for both Desktop and Documents but I can’t seem to figure out how it’s applied.
DNS is pointed to the new DC.
Can anyone suggest anything?
