I have a project that is moving data from one server to another. When I do this, I will have some users losing network mapped drives. The way they are mapped is what is my concern. We have two OUs... One of them has a GPO to map the drives and the users in that OU also have reference to a login script. The second OU doesn't have a GPO on it, however all the users reference the login script. Now this all works if I make the adjustments, but then there are remote users connecting via a Microsoft Windows VPN connection. I am a remote user and I have been testing this for the past 6 hours... I created a test GPO in my OU and scoped it to myself. I added one network drive to it that is referenced in the other policy. I have done gpupdate with and without /force. Restarted... I can see the policy apply with a gpresult /r but I do not see the mapped drive.
Do I need to be on the network for the drive to appear? Even with a "red" X on it? Do I have to establish the connection once for it to always be there?
I ask this because the remote users might lose their drives and create a headache for our helpdesk...
Any education would be appreciated!
Thank you in advanceTico
