Surface Pro

we just purchased a couple Surface Pro computers for our Windows 2008 R2 Domain.

We take advantage of folder redirect group policies for My Docs, Desktop and Favorites, our users do not have admin rights.

after joining the Surface(s) to the domain all I got was a wallpaper, no desktop, no metro menu, nothing except my user name in the upper right hand corner so I could log off. When I select the Windows button and X I can get to my regular desktop but when I select the windows button again I have nothing but a wallpaper and when I type Outlook or Word it can't find the program.

So I removed the profile folder and the GUIDLIST of that user and rebooted so the user logon would be clean.

When I turned off Desktop Redirect and gave the user admin rights everything worked normally.

We don't want to change our policies and find this very odd behavior, anyone know anything about this?

Note: This behavior does not happen to regular Windows 8 clients, just Surface Pro.
