We have some shared Windows 7 computers that we would like to automate deleting old profiles.
When I do a web search for this policy for "Delete Profiles Older than Specified Number of Days" I'm only finding posts saying it doesn't work because AV scans or other processes update the modified date on the profiles. Others posted that the policy did work, but it included the Default User profile as an old profile and deleted it. So, now no new users can log in to the workstation because the Default User profile is gone so new profiles can be created. Wow, hard to believe Microsoft did not build in some mechanism to prevent this by excluding the default user profile from being considered for deletion.
Many found their solution to be to avoid using this policy and use a workaround of scripts to delete profiles.
There was a hotfix that was supposed to fix the file date issue, but some said the issue continued even after applying that hotfix.
Have the issues with the Delete Profiles Older than Specified Number of Days policy been fixed in service pack 1?
What needs to be done to assure this policy works correctly deleting old profiles, but NOT also deleting the Default User profile?
