Greetings,
Is working offline not supported with roaming profiles?
Imagine the following situation:
1) Unplug the network cable and log on without a connection to the network (working offline).
2) Remove a file from your desktop.
3) Log off, still without a connection to the network.
4) Replug the network cable and log on with a connection to the network.
5) The file you have just removed from your desktop in step 2 will still be there.
The file is removed from the local copy of your roaming profile but not from the server copy of your roaming profile. When you log on with a connection to the network (in a roaming profile environment), files that consist in the server copy of your roaming
profile are always copied to the local copy of your roaming profile. This behavior seems to be by design. Unfortunately this will discourage the use of roaming profiles in conjunction with working offline.
Removing a file from your desktop when working offline should be considered as a legitimate and intended action and should cause the file on the server copy of your roaming profile to be deleted.
Thank you for your time,
Scuba
