Hello,
We have deployed VLC Player to a number of computers in our organisation which has associated itself with .wmv files.
We need to change all computers to use Windows Media Player to open .wmv files, preferably using Group Policy to remove the need for hours of manual intervention or asking users to do anything.
In Group Policy under Computer Configuration > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Folder Options > File Type I can set.wmv to Windows Media Player.... This works fine for Windows XP but not for Windows 7. On Windows 7 it says 'Unsupported Format' under file associations on the computer and does not open.
If you look at other file associations under Windows 7, the program used is calledWindows Media Audio/Video File rather than Windows Media Player... so I guess that has something to do with this problem.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong or can they suggest an alternative?
Regards,
Andrew.
