This school has a wired LAN and a ruckus wireless Zone Director for a WLAN. on site server running windows server and all the workstations and laptops are on windows OS, some still running XP and some Windows 7. So some students are not able to log onto the network with their user ID and password, they get an error message that the domain server is not available.
I have a remote connection to the server, can anyone help me with what details of the student user accounts I should check/modify so they can log on? This school's IT guy quit suddenly and unexpectedly and I' m trying to help them sort things out. They have been having students log on using the ID and password of another student who does not attend the school anymore!
Unsure, but this may be related to ruckus/wireless issues; Monday they wanted me to change the PW for the WLAN so I logged into the ruckus device. They had two networks named, one with the SSID JSPH and another called guest pass. The guest pass was configured with WPA-2 but the main one they use was WEP. So I changed it from WEP to WPA-2 and named a password. I was able t5o connect to it with my phone no problem. Well, a couple of laptops connected to the WLAN but most would not, they did not even seem to recognize it, it was showing up as JSPH2 and they would not connect to it. So I just connected them to the guest pass. Then, they were connected but they could not load their A+ curriculum. One of the teachers said they had this problem before, and the A+ would not load due to some security issues and it seems that is why it had been set to WEP.
OK, so I changed it back to WEP and generated a new password and after that more students than ever could not log on! So many students are now all using that one ex-students id and PW!
