Wrong path when processing GPO after domain rename - event ID 1058

Hi,

I have a Windows 2008 R2 PDC and several Windows 7 pro clients.

I did a domain name change process few months ago and everything was fine except for the GPO: on some clients (previously connected the the old domain) I have the Error 1058:

The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\xxxxx.it\SysVol\xxxxx.it\Policies\{1166DE59-21F7-45DF-8BB3-35F5E10F89C8}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.

I followed many advice but the problem is that the domain is not xxxxx.it anymore but yyyyy.xxxxx.it.

I looked in the register in the server and in the domain for any link to xxxxx.it or any string like "1166DE59-21F7-45DF-8BB3-35F5E10F89C8" but there aren't.
I tried to remove the client from the domain and join to it again.
I checked the dcdiag on the server but I got no errors.
On the client the only error in the Event Viewer is this one.
On new clients (never connected to the old domain) the problem doesn't exist.

Anybody has an idea on how I can deleted all the information about the old domain from the client?
Thank you very much.
