Administratively assign offline files (Computer Policy) depth

Dear folks,

I am trying to administratively assign an offline folder in a computer GPO. So far so good, everything works. However, I would like to somehow specify that only the folder root is cached, i.e. the top directory, but not any subdirectories.

I had read that I could use the * wildcard in the UNC path, but I'm not sure if this applies here. Also, the "Subfolders always available offline" seems of interest, but wouldn't that apply to user settings defined later on too, because the two policies get merged?

Essentially, I want the following:

Computer policy: \\domain\general should be cached, but only at the top level.

User policy: \\domain\users\%username% should be cached, including files & subfolders at any depth

It would be great if someone could provide some input on how to achieve this.

Thank you all for your help!
