Windows 2008 Enterprise (non R2) DCOM component stops running when account reaches timeout in AD

In Windows 2008 Server (non-R2), we have a DCOM component that stopped running all of a sudden.  We checked the password for the account that is used to run this component and it was not locked out and it was set to "never expire".  However, the default domain policy for accounts was set to expire after 180 days and when we reached 181 days and this is when we noticed the problem.  The account was set to never expire, and the account was not locked out however, the DCOM component stopped running and when you checked the account  in the dcom component it reported an error that the account was expired (when it was not expired in AD).  Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
