Server 2012: Sysvol on other DC not updating when I create a GPO on the main DC

I have 2 AD servers (both 2012). Let's call them DC1 and DC2

Currently replication seems to work fine.

If I add a new GPO to DC1 however, some clients (and DC2) give error (Event 1058)

The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\mydomain\SysVol\mydomain\Policies\{4E481D90-20B1-491B-B481-F4D9CEB2AD2F}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.

I had a look in the Sysvol shares and found that DC1 contains the mentioned entry in the \\dc1\SysVol\mydomain\Policies folder while it does not appear in DC2. Then I log onto DC2's Group Policy (make sure I select DC2 as the current domain controller) and find that the GPO exists in DC2. This means that AD replicates, but the folder is not created on DC2.

Group Policy Management informs me that DC2 is listed under "1 domain controller(s) with replication in progress". So it seems as if replication is still busy, however even after 2 hours of wait it does not replicate.

If I remove the newly created GPO then everything starts working again.

I cannot find any other errors in Event Viewer and .

Any advice?

Thanks
