Hi,
we are deploying lot of software with GP,but for each OU we have to create new GP in order that clients install software from local server. So when creating software distribution it looks like this: \\servername\Install_folder\package.msi. To simplify installations we want to have one GP, but we want clients to start installations from their local server, server in their site. Each site have local server.
We already have environment variable set on clients to %localserver% with local server name defined.
Servers are Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP clients.
Is it possible that in software distribution we enter variable %localserver% (or something else). When we try it changes %localserver% to server name in that location where we make GP, so it is not usable.
Si its like this:
\\servername\Install_folder\package.msi
and we want this
%localserver%\Install_folder\package.msi
