GPP printers disappearing

Hi,

We have VMware View virtual environment, with Windows 2008 domain (2003 functional level) and Windows 7 clients. In the beginning network shared printers were added to users' desktop manually. We then migrated to GPP based printer deployment.

The settings we are using are:

  • Replace mode
  • Run in logged-on user's security context (user policy option)
  • Remove this item when it is no longer applied
  • Item-level targetting -> printer is deployed if user belong to certain group

When we first started with this kind of deployment the users have been loosing their printers in the middle of their work. That was happening when GPP update occurred, but not each time. We solved this in great deal by disabling background refresh of GPP printers (thanks to this topic).

But now, users still sometimes get logged-in to their desktop without the printer. Really rare, but still it happens. We "solve" the problem with log-out/log-in procedure.

An error we find in the Event Viewer is the following:

The user 'CN006' preference item in the 'Printerji {ABCDEF6342-ABCDE-1234-4567-ABCDEF6342}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x8007000aOkolje je napačno.' This error was suppressed.

Translation of bold text is Environment is incorrect. Can somebody points me in the right direction to solve this problem? I'm assuming the problem could be related to something else and not to GPP itself.
