MSI not installing on some machines - run Group Policy Results - You do not have permission to perform this operation - Access is Denied

Hi,

Very strange one here! I am having issues with installing an msi on some machines as part of a test. It works fine on some machines, but other machines it does not. Checked event viewer Error 1720 " Problem with the Windows Installer package", Ran WMIDiag could not find a fix. Its an inventory tool that I am trying to install, testing locally, then deploying via GP.

So, when i run Group Policy Results - You do not have permission to perform this operation - Access is Denied. on the test machine that does not work. Naturally on the machines where the msi installs, there is no issue here.

This is the only similarity i can find on an error. My initial testing is on XP SP3 machines for now, as this is a large part of our estate. This test machine is fully patched, AV removed, firewall off. Also, checked c:\windowszsystem32\grouppolicy and permissions ok. Reinstalled Windows Installer too.

Hope i have all the info. Any questions let me know, I am pulling my hair out here and under pressure to sort!

Windows XP SP3 fully patched
