Hello,
Article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff633429(v=ws.10).aspx states:
"When deploying the Folder Redirection Group Policy setting for specific folders, those folders are also automatically cached by default on the client computer by using the Offline Files technology"
Our Documents folders are redirected with GPO to the file server. Server share has following offline setting enabled: Only the files and programs users specify are available offline
So far, I have believed that all files user stores on the Documents folder are cached to client computer. However, this not seems to be the case. I have copied two folders (folder1 and folder2) with 10 files each - to user's Documents folder on the file server. I have enabled Analytic and Debug Logs from W7 SP1 workstation. I have also enabled Microsoft/Windows/OfflineFiles/SyncLog.
After viewing offline status of these two folders from client computer, Offline Availability state for both folders is "Not Available".
If I simply open one of these folders - to see its contents - SyncLog starts ticking events like below:
Sync succeeded.
\\SERVER01\Shares\Users\testuser\Documents\folder1\file.txt
Operation: Create client copy and sync from server
However there's no events for folder2. Folder2 is not cached for offline use no matter how long I wait. This leads to my question:
Do I have to access file/folder stored on the Documents folder via Windows Explorer, before it is cached to client computer for offline use?
