Cannot remove GPO from DC

I have a 2012 FFL/DFL test domain currently with 1 2012 R2 DC and a GPO being applied to this DC to specify my WSUS server.  This was working nicely until I recently renamed the domain, now when I run rsop on the DC I can see it still has the old DNS name of my WSUS server being applied.  If I open the group policy management console, edit the GPO with my WSUS settings as soon as I browse to Computer Config > Policies I get an error that says "Encountered an error while parsing.  Unrecognized input signature"  I can dismiss it and keep drilling down the Windows Updates node where the proper DNS name for my WSUS server is listed but I suspect this error is part of the problem.

I've already tried unapplying this broken GPO from my DC, recreating a new GPO and applying it but it doesn't seem to apply even though gpresult -r says it is.

I should say that I can browse around in my other GPOs without issue and that my other 2 member servers and clients are getting the WSUS policy correctly, it just seems to be something with this DC, maybe because I only have 1 DC, I'm not sure.

Ideas?
