Hi, all.
I have recently hit a stumbling block with a Domain I manage.
I have been going through all of the GPO's in this site and clearing them up - its a mess.
The setup is as follows:
- 2008R2 Domain, 2008R2 File Server (DFS enabled), 2008R2 RDS Server (based in one town)
- 4x 2003R2 TS/Backup Domain servers (with DFS enabled, going back to 2008R2 FS) (each one based in a different town)
All servers are joined to the same domain via a tunnel back to Head Office where the 08 servers reside.
The issue I am having relates to a Proxy configuration in the Primary DC server.
There are several GPO's being applied to different OU's in the AD structure - The Default Domain Policy that sits right under the Domain (domain.local) has Proxy settings applied (external proxy server with local and external exceptions), under User Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Internet Explorer Maintenance/Connection/Proxy Settings.
This works fine, however, I have separate OU's that each of the RDS/TS servers live in further down the AD structure.
Part of the cleanup was going through each GPO being applied to each server, and removing unnecessary objects. I have found that each server had a GPO assigned that would sort out Folder Redirection for each user (so that users folders were being redirected to the server they were logging on to, and not the 2008R2 File Server - reduces WAN traffic). In each of these GPO's was another policy for Proxy settings. I do not want these here, as the proxy settings I want are in the Default Domain Policy.
I have gone into each GPO and unchecked 'enable proxy settings'. I thought that would be the end of it. However, each remote server is, instead of reverting back to the Default Domain Policy for it's proxy settings, still applying proxy settings from it's
GPO - and as 'enable proxy settings' has been disabled, the server is being configured to use no proxy settings.
I have also checked the 'automatically detect configuration settings' under 'Automatic Browser Configuration', but this is still not working.
I cant think of anything else that I can do, as there is no 'not configured' option for the Proxy Settings.
Any ideas folks?
