Hello all,
I need advice on this setup.
We're running 2003 level domain on Server 2003 DCs, where all clients are Win XP. There is a terminal server farm of Server 2003 as well. User profiles are set by every AD user account object such as : \\fileserver\users\%username%\profile
There is a folder redirection set for My Documents folder only for all users in the company, which is : \\fileserver\users\%username%\MyDocuments
We're planning to upgrade all Domain Controllers to Server 2012 (we'll leave the functional level as 2003). Thin clients are currently using existing 2003 terminal servers and they have data both on their desktops and My Documents folders; also they have some printers defined manually in the user profile.
We will create a new RDS farm on Server 2008 servers. My obstacle right now is that I cannot find a way to move the contents within the current desktop folder of the users (which is \\fileserver\users\%username%\profile\Desktop ). I've run some tests with RDS server 2008, when an old user logs in, Profile.V2 folder is created under \\fileserver\users\%username%\
I also tried to set folder redirection for Desktop folder (such as \\fileserver\users\%username%\Desktop ), but the data is not moved from roaming profile to redirected folder.
I also want to find a way to copy any printer defined by users individually.
Method 2 in this article did not produce any results http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947025/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0 . Method 1 does not seem to be suitable for our case, since each user has his own permissions on the profile folders and even administrators cannot access those folders.
What would your suggestions be to move the old profile to new profile before we install new RDS servers?
Any help would be appreciated...
