Using GPP to rename each computers local administrator to a unique name causing event 4098 Errors

Hi All,

I have implemented a GPP to rename the local administrator to a unique name per server which works very well however I keep getting the below errors on some of the servers.

1. The computer 'Administrator' preference item in the 'GPO' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x800708c5 <unknown-message-text>' This error was suppressed.

On each of the servers I see that its not only renaming the account but its also removing it from the local administrator group and re-adding it.

Is this normal because we monitor the local administrator groups and this is causing a lot of noise on our monitoring software.

We are also getting the below event which is weird because we are not resetting the password using the GPP. We are only renaming it. Now does the GPP force and require a password reset?

2. The computer 'Administrator' preference item in the 'GPO' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x800708c5 The password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements.' This error was suppressed.

Kind Regards Don
