Folder Redirection Removal doesn't work!

Hello,

I recently setup Folder redirection since we were migrating from WinXP to Win7. We use roaming profiles in a Win2003 DC, and so using folder redirection helped us while we were migrating groups of users. I followed the steps according to those on MS's website for Setting up Folder Redirection and it worked fine. Some users didn't want the folder redirection, since they have laptops, so I created a different OU which did not have the FolderRedirection policy and moved those Users there. Unfortunately, once I did that, and the users' logged on to their machines, their folders were still being redirected. Even after doing gpupdate /force and having the users log off/log in couple of times, it didn't work.

I followed MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888203 and made sure the  "Redirect the folder back to the local userprofile location when policy is removed" option is selected. (I had selected that when I created the GP in the first place). The funny thing is, a laptop user (who I moved to the non-FolderRedirected OU this morning) got a fresh build of Win7 in the afternoon, logged on, and still had his profile redirected. Now one thing to note is that he hadn't logged on anywhere else during the machine was being built, so I assumed that if I move him before he logs on anywhere, the new policies should take affect, thus NOT redirecting his folders. Am I wrong to assume that?

So what's the best way to fix this issue? Any ideas, comments, suggestions will be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Sau
