I am trying to edit a Group Policy on a server 2012R2 box.

I get a popup error which says "Resource '$(string.VerMgmtAuditModeEnable)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File c:\windows\policydefinitions\inetres.admx, line 1495, column 249"

And the InternetExplorer nodes are completely missing from the policy editing Window (under User Policies, Administrative Templates\Windows Components) so I can't view or edit these settings.  I have five DC's in the domain and - not surprisingly - they all show the same symptoms.

SFC doesn't find anything to object to.

Do I have a corrupted file? How can I  (should I) attempt to repair this?

is there any way to add a user to remote user group by the "managed by" attribute

doing it with power shell we would need the to enable ad fro RSAT for PS to have the module, which is not a thing we wuld like to do

I setup a policy to block the MMC tools I don't want users to have access to but somehow this also blocked task scheduler, my research indicates this is a known problem but I have yet to see a solution.

Any ideas how I can achieve my goal without affect Task scheduler?

I want to copy a PDF file to all users' desktops, so I created a GPP to do this and it works if I place the source file, the PDF, on a shared folder.

However, my GPP will span a large network, across half the globe, thus having the PDF on a file server in one location will take a long time to copy to users' workstations in another location. I thus would like to replicate the PDF file along all the DCs using the NETLOGON folder.

I thus placed the file in the following folder on my local domain controller:

C:\Windows\SYSVOL\sysvol\brightstarcorp.com\scripts\APAC\Files for APAC users

In my GPP, I used the following reference for the location of the PDF file:

Source: %logonserver%\NetLogon\APAC\Files for APAC users\APAC IT Support Contact Details final.pdf
Target: %userprofile%\desktop\APAC IT Support Contact Details final.pdf

Is this the correct way to do this?

My GPP is created on a Win2012 server for Win2008 domain controllers and Win7 clients.

I need to enable compatibility view for all intranet zones in IE11 on Server 2012 R2

Central Store contains all new admx' .  When navigate to location below there is "Turn off compatibility view".

Where is Turn ON? Specific admx? different location?

BTW, I checked local GPO editor on 2012R2 there are the same settings as in AD GPO. NO Turn On option as per article...

I have a problem with DNS in windows 2008R2. there is a policy prevent DNS resolving name to IP and I can ping any computer by IP put I cannot ping it by name although when I use "nslookup" on cmd the computer can see DNS server. Another problem I can join Computer to domain put when I want to add a domain user to local admin group the computer cannot see the domain and user show as s-1-5-21 if I could  add user.I don't know the policy and how to delete it.

We recently switched subscription from 365 Pro Plus to Business Premium.  Prior to installing the new version on every user PC, we tested our existing GPOs with the new version.  Everything worked normally.  Following the change to the actual plan, the GPOs have stopped applying.  We were assured over the telephone by a MS representative that everything would continue working.  Can anyone shed any light on whether GPOs should be applied for Business Premium?

I have an installation of Server 2012R2 as my DC. I am trying to setup GP for users to provide settings for IE10/11. I am not finding all of the options and I keep receiving an error about the admx file.

I downloaded the file from MS and tried copying it to that directory in an elevated command prompt and it says I dont have permission to do that. I looked and it seems that everything is only read/execute with no modify ability. So I was going to try creating a central store on SYSVOL per a suggestion on another forum, but I cant create a folder in SYSVOL\Policies because only the SYSTEM has modify rights. 

I am logged in as a Domain Admin user. How am I supposed to fix my GP issues if I dont have the "right" to do it?

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Side Note:  when trying to access this share from the affected pcs :  \\domain\SysVol\domain\Policies i got no permission

i could access the share from any other machine in the domain, dns is working properly, i had rejoined and joined the pc to no avail, but when i try to access \\domain\SysVol  i access it without any issues, please advise,

Would like to ask you to help me to find a way to control "Block all incoming connections, including those in the list of allowed programs."section in Domain Network of Firewall via GPO

I control local Firewall settings of all my servers via GPO, but only "Block all incoming connections, including those in the list of allowed programs." stays unmanaged. 

I just want this check box to be grayed out too but cannot find a way to do this through GPO

That's the problem: I need to configure computer settings based on logging user. Target setting is "set roaming profile path for all users logging onto this computer". If user belongs to specific group, then apply policy to all computers in OU, if not - deny.
What I tried doing in test environment:

Created user group "roaming users"

Created separate OU, put affected computers into

Created GPO linked to my OU, in security filtering added "roaming users" (read, apply)

The following occurs: if I leave authenticated users (read, apply) in filtering, then all users logging onto this PC have their profiles roaming. If I remove Apply property, then nobody have profiles roaming.
I tested it with and without loopback - result is the same. And I don't want to create group of computers (maybe except using wildcards in WMI)

Any Ideas? I was looking into WMI filtering, but not sure.

Preventing advices about configuring roaming profiles as property of user: in production we have different locations and slow links between. I configure separate GPOs for each one with different target servers replicating with each other.

As an option, if possible to use wildcards for computer names (like "RU-%", "US-%" etc.) and store computers in one OU, that could be useful too.

Hi everyone,

I have 10 users on my current Server 2008 R2 machine, 2 of which are administrator accounts. But when logged in with either of those accounts on any client machine (Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate x64), and trying to perform certain actions, I am prompted with an UAC window asking for administrator details, I enter the same details as the account I'm logged in as, which allows me to continue. Why does the machine prompt me for details when the account is an admin one anyway? How do I resolve this.

I have Windows Server 2008 R2 and GPOXX with settings about Security Zones and run normally.

I need create another GPOYY with settings about Security Zones different than GPOXX.

My doubt is: When I create GPOYY and my settings won't occur conflict in my GPOXX? I don't can problem in my environment production in my GPOXX.
