ProxyServer (Order: 2)
ProxyOverride (Order: 3)
AutoConfigURL (Order: 4)
any others and if the order okay?

Hi!
I'm trying to implement a policy in our current environment where NTFS permissions are added to the local drives. I've implemented this by editing the settings in Computer Configuration - Windows Settings - Security Settings - File System. Unfortunately, when I set up the settings, all of the current settings are overwritten when the GPO is applied. I've selected "Propagate inheritable permissions to all subfolders...", but all current permissions are removed and replaced by the settings in the GPO.
The screenshot below shows the current computer configuration settings within the GPO.http://pasteboard.co/yMjM5f5.jpg
Any idea on the correct implementation I need to use?
People,
I have a problem with Windows GPO not being applied in some of my servers in the single AD domain. There are multiple different subnets for each different site offices spread out geographically, when I set the GPO through Headquarter DC/GCHQDC01, I have successfully configure the Windows Update policy for 80% of the servers in all of the AD sites, but somehow there are some server that is not getting the WSUS GPO applied ?
For the Windows server that has been updated successfully:GPResult /R shows that the WSUS GPO comes from the domain controllers HQDC01For the Windows server that has NOT been working:GPResult /R shows that there is no WSUS GPO applied and the domain controllers points toPRODDC03-VMand the GPO is listed underDenied GPOs with the reasonInaccessible.
Head Office AD Site:HQDC01 - Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers FSMO role holder (PDC, RID & Infrastructure master)
Data Center AD Site:PRODDC01-VM Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controllers (Schema master)PRODDC03-VM Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controllers (Domain naming master)Any help would be greatly appreciated to assist me in troubleshooting the GPO above.
Thanks.

We have an Domain controller (Windows 2008 R2) installed with all AD group policy implemented. We are facing an weird issue that as we use SQL or Visual Studio 2012 or later one, these all software require option "Run As Administrator" to run all options incorporated in them. Now as AD Client there are some specific rights restriction due to Group Policy. Also whenever we run these software in administrator mode, it asks for the Domain Admin permission. How can this issue be resolved as we cannot convert all users to admin mode. Any help will be really appreciable. Thanks in advance.

We have deployed a GPO to deny all access to all removable media & WPD devices. But after removing the GPO, the devices which were connected during the GPO are not working. But new USB/WPD devices are working. I got a hotfix for this at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2738898 . But this is only for windows 7. Can any one help in getting the same hotfix for windows 8.1 & windows 10 because the GPO is causing the same issue on win8.1 & win 10 as well and these hotfixes are not applicable.

This starts to drive me mad, it should not be an issue but it is.
I have a Windows 2008 r2 domain and a Window 2012 r2 secondary domain controller in Amazon EC2. In amazon I have to Windows server joined to the domain. I have many windows 2008 r2 servers joined to the domain.
The 2012r2 servers connects to the AD in amazon.
I have a policy that maps a couple of shares maps to a few drive letters. This workes perfectly in windows 2008 r2 but my 2012 r2 server refuses to map the shares even if the policy is applied. Gpresult say so, C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Group Policy\History say so.
Not even a batch logon script works.
However I can manually run "net use g: \\xxxxxx\" and it maps. So there is no permission issue
I hopped this (http://windowsitpro.com/windows-server-2012/q-why-group-policy-preference-sets-drive-mapping-not-working-windows-8-and-windo) was the solution when I saw it but no.
Is it something amazon does to its VM´s?
Where else can i look?
Hi,
I recently migrated FSMO roles to a new DC, and now the GPMC is throwing errors when opening. It's saying The specified domain controller could not be contacted. This affects the following domain in the console. The error was: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
When I choose a different domain controller, the error is redisplayed when selecting "The domain controller with the Operations Master token for the PDC emulator". However, if I select the domain controller holding the PDC emulator role from the list, it connects fine.
netdom query /domain thedomain.local fsmo shows the correct DC as the role holder, and the hostname resolves.
dsquery server -hasfsmo pdc shows the correct server's full configuration partition DN.
I'm not really sure where the problem lies given the role has been transferred successfully and the DC holding the role is resolvable / reachable directly.
Greetings,
We have over 50 printers deployed to all users on all client machines at our site, and it's gotten very cumbersome.
I have 4 groups of printers and I believe I should be making 4 GPOs for them: 1 for administrators, 1 for classrooms, 1 for staff, and 1 for faculty. I want to assign different user groups to each GPO. I also want to link this GPO to the "Staff Computers"
OU. This way whoever logs in to those computers will get a different set of printers depending on which GPO they have permissions to.
In testing, I made a "Print Test" OU, moved my computer there, and linked the "Printers - Staff" GPO to it. I've tried changing between
User Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Printer Connections*
and
Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Printer Connections*
and changing the Security Filtering of the GPO from "Authenticated Users" (for which I always see the printers as expected) to the security group(s) I am a member of, and even my user account itself. No matter what I change the security settings to,
I never get the printers deployed; I only ever get them if the Security Filtering is set to "Authenticated Users."
Is this even the correct way to go about this? Any insight would be appreciated!
* "Printer Connections" seems to be interchangeable with "Deployed Printers." When listing the settings of the GPO, it says Printer Connections, but when editing, the menu tree says Deployed Printers.
How can I map a drive that remains mapped when users are offline? Our offline files policy is working. Our mapped drives group preferences is working. Our redirected folders policy is working.
However, when offline, only one drive is mapped.
In the Offline Files properties, on the general tab, I can click 'View your offline files". This reveals three icons; 'Computers', 'Mapped Network Drives', and the user's folder. Under 'Mapped Network Drives', I see the drive we GPP mapped to drive U:. It contains various folders that were successfully redirected and made available offline. However, our 'Projects' drive, does not show up as a mapped drive.
Under 'Computers', I can navigate to the server and Projects share and see that it is correctly caching files for offline use. The share is available offline.
In Active Directory, our user profiles do not specify a 'Home folder', so this does not explain why U: is available. So, I wonder why is U: available but the Projects drive is not?
After much research, I see it is possible to manually choose a mapped drive to make 'Always available offline'. However, this is not manageable among our in and out users.
How can I use Group Policy to map a drive that remains mapped when users are offline?

Hi, I have two 2008 R2 domain controllers. Recently had an issue with replication but was resolved. Some time later, noticed not able to create new GPOs or edit existing ones. All existing GPOs are still at the OUs but missing from the Group Policy Objects
container. In ADSIedit, the System --> Policies container is empty. If I try to create a new group policy container with same GUID, it tells me it already exists. I can navigate to SYSVOL\domain\Policies and all the GUIDs with subfolders/files are there.
I have no GPO backups and both DCs are reporting the same. Any ides on how to fix this? Thanks.
Hi Flocks
I want to disable the complexity of password setting though the GPO, So I have done further configuration.
Enforce password history-- 0 passwords remembered
Maximum password age--0 days mean never expired
Minimum password age--0 days so any time user can change the password.
Minimum password length 3 characters
Password must complexity requirements -- disabled
Store passwords using reversible encryption -- not define.
But no luck to disable the complexity setting still it is pop-up one windows while create account in AD with 3 character password (123) "Windows can set the password for user because: the password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements."
you suggestion will be highly appreciated..

We have a problematic software that modifies the windows shell so that upon logon, it bypasses the local workstation (Win7) and connects to a Virtual machine (win7, Xendesktop). But when a local admin logs in, there's a possibility that it might break and a repair on that software is needed.
So I want to use a logoff script in GPP, where if local admin is logged in, then a repair should run. So my question is, where should I placed the batch file, does the file have to reside inside GPO folder \\domain.com\sysvol\domain.com\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}\USER\Scripts\Logoff or can it be inside the root of the sysol folder.
Hello everyone,
So I am a beginner in the IT field, I have been doing it for right at a year. My problem is One of my clients just received a new management software for there practice, The software is on Server 2012 R2 Standard, It uses SQL 2008 R2 for the database.
The practice has 11 users so I had set up ADDS, The problem I run into is the software has to run at Admin level, So when a domain user clicks the icon to run the software, I get the UAC popup asking for the Domain Admin username and password.
Is there a group policy that I can give a user that will let the user run that software at Admin, without exposing the Admin credentials to everyone.
oh yea, Each Workstation has software on it that allows it to communicate with the server side management software.
I have UAC and windows firewall disabled on each workstation, but when my domain user connects there UAC is turned on.
I hope this makes some sense, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Michael.
I have a third Party service called "PTOS JBoss Application Server 7.2.0" that I would like certain users to have the ability to stop and start when they login to the server using a security group. I have managed to created the GP including the third party service and have applied the respective group so users have ability to stop and start. When user logs on and attempt to stop service account as it starts automatically when servers is powered on I receive the following error.
Window could not stop the PTOS JBoss Application Server 7.2.0 serice on Local Computer.
Error 1061: The service cannot accept control message at this time.
I see lots of posts on how to revert a user from folder redirection back to the default location, by either changing the current GPO or by moving the user to a new GPO that uses basic and default profile location. However this keeps the user "managed" and does not allow the user to change the default location. I need to remove users from being managed as I want to move some users to OneDrive or to WorkFolders. Both of which include changing the document location from %profile%\documents to a folder within the workfolders or onedrive for business folder. Also, I have some users with a small SSD c drive and a larger second drive. In those cases the onedrive or work folders location is set to the second location.
Once we have determined what will work best for each department, we can standardize a file location and manage the users document location but for the moment, I am looking for a way to remove a user from being managed. Note: I have tried excluding them from the GPO, but this does not cause them to be "unmanaged" and they do not have the ability to change their document location locally. I would be happy if I can do this as an admin changing a registry setting or similar, ideally remotely.

As a follow-up on some kind of bug in sharepoint ( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointgeneral/thread/f3dbe651-be99-491b-8c6c-fc4792ae0b22 ) I need to turn off Auto detect settings in IE on all my clients, as this speeds up sharepoint on many clients.
"The Internet Explorer Maintenance settings can be set in two modes: policy mode (to enable by Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\Internet Explorer Maintenance policy processing) or preference mode(to enable by right-clicking
Internet Explorer Maintenance)." (snipped from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/thread/57d81da5-de30-4930-8649-197d204b2a6c )
Well, I have problem configuring Automatically detect settings. I have no trouble changing other parts of the same policy (changes are applied to all my computers), e.g. trusted sites and such. However I cannot turn off Auto Detect settings. I wonder if unchecking
Auto Detect Settings really means "no change"/unconfigured?
Is the only option then to use a hardcoded reg change?

Hey everyone!
I have some trouble with slow logons on a network with a windows 2003 server.
Most users are logging in, without any problems, but now and then, some experience slow logon. Sometimes, this even results in a temporary user logon. To be able to work properly, they have to log off and log on and wait for 5 - 10 minutes before the logon is completed.
So, what could cause this? I have read a lot of information about this subject, including many possible solutions.
This is the log of a PC when the PC logged on with a temporary profile:
