Use WMI filter on GPO's in existing AD strukture

We are finally on the way to deploy Windows 7 in our organization, but for a long time we are going to run in a mixed environment with XP

we have used the oportunity to Create a new OU for devices that have the new Windows 7, so as we roll out Windows 7 we move the computers to the new OU.

We have also created all new GPO's for the users that have had the new OS deployed, so that we finally have the functionallity we have allways dreamed of, but never had the oportunity to get because it would be a pain setting up.

But this new setup deployed in the Old AD Strukture gives me some problems.

We are not able to move the users, as they will still use both systems and we have a lot of applications that are dependent of the Users placement in OU's.

So my plan is:

- Link all new Computer based Policies to the newly created Devices OU

- Link all new User based Policies to the root of the existing Users OU strukture along with the old policies.

Now I need to create 2 WMI filters and apply them to the user targeted policies.

one that only applies the GPO is the user is on a Windows 7 system and one that only applies the GPO if the user is on a Windows XP system.

I'm completely new to WMI filters, but I have searched high and low and can't seam to get it right, so please If someone have a great solution so we can start the deployment...

I have found and tried this but it dossent seam to work:

SELECT Version, ProductType FROM Win32_OperatingSystem WHERE Version = ‘5.2′ (for XP and using version 6.1 for windows 7).

I have tried to applie this to a User targeted GPO but the GPO is still applied even though I'm on a Windows 7 system.

Thanks in advance,

-Jonas
