Hello,
I was trying to apply "proxy setting" (User Configuration - Policy - Windows Settings - Internet Explorer Maintenance - Connection) only to particular groups (Let's say "Proxy Group", adding some test users into the group) and make sure the security filtering - delete Authenticated Users and add "Proxy Group") and attached the policy to OU (and "Enforced", for just in case and gpupdate /force from the DC and the client machine), When the test user (resides in the OU, member of "Proxy Group" though the user is not able to get Proxy Address and port number in Proxy Setting on IE.
The computer resides on Computer OU and user resides on another OU
I tried "Loopback Processing" to setup Proxy with following below configurations
Computers: resides
Domain - xxxx.local - Level 3(OU)-Room3.10(OU) (computer1,computer2,computer3,computer4 .. etc)
User: resides
Domain - xxxx.local - Lv3Users A(OU) (user1, user2, user3, user4... etc) (they are member of ProxyUserGroup)
Create a new Group Policy (blank, called "Loopback") - find loopback processing - enable - replace
Go to the User Configuration of "Loopbback", set up "Proxy Setting" and link this policy with Room3.10
Set up security Filter: for the above Group Policy - delete Authenticated Users - Add "ProxyUserGroup" make sure that ProxyUserGroup has "Read" "Apply policy" ticked.
I was expecting :
anyone in the ProxyUserGroup logs on to the computers in Room3.10, they have proxy settings on IE other groups/users don't have, though seems like this policy is not working at all.
I used to setup proxy in GPO through "Default Domain Policy", I tried this time, It was working OK. though I don't want to set proxy for all users.
If I am doing something wrong, please please point out where I made a mistake. and to use "Loop back processing", both computers and users objects need to reside in the same OU?
thank you in advance,
Akira Sekine
